Loose Parts

I get a lot of questions regarding loose parts, whether it’s at work or through DM’s. Loose parts can be any materials that kids can manipulate and aren’t “glued down”. They can be used again and again and in many different ways. Loose parts allow kids to tinker, be creative, and problem solve. Including loose parts, in children’s play areas, encourages open-ended play. Kids see loose parts as little treasures that can be turned into anything their hearts imagine! Nicky used some to create his picture and play with his “people”. He created, counted, balanced, and sorted with 2-D shapes, beads and cubes. ▪️ Gotta admit, loose parts aren’t always easy to clean up!
