An Early Learning Rant

Playing IS learning!

Time and time again, I hear the misconception that learning and playing are two different things. Early Years Educators and the scientific community recognize play and the benefits of play-based learning in a variety of learning environments. As educators and parents, we need to understand that through play and student-led inquiries we can teach our kids almost anything! When kids are playing, their brains are optimized to learn something new. Play is not, and shouldn’t be, separate from learning. And just because kids are “playing” doesn’t mean teachers aren’t “teaching”! But that’s another rant for another day...
